Tour Overview
We will commence our complimentary Oaxaca tour at the front of the Museum of Oaxacan Painters, situated in the central Zócalo square.
To start, we will take in the striking façade of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, an architectural masterpiece crafted from the distinctive green quarry stone, emblematic of local spirituality and pride.
Next, we will explore the Mezcal Cultural Centre, where insights into Oaxaca's iconic beverage await; you will learn about its artisanal crafting, historical significance, and deep cultural roots.
Our journey will then lead us to the San Pablo Cultural Centre, a hub where tradition and contemporary art harmoniously blend in a setting rich with history and stone. Subsequently, we will visit the sophisticated Macedonio Alcalá Theatre, a notable venue in the Oaxacan performing arts scene, celebrated for its Art Nouveau architecture and as the birthplace of Mario Moreno "Cantinflas".
Just a short walk away lies the magnificent Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, a striking representation of Oaxaca and a treasure of Mexican heritage, renowned for its gold-adorned interior and stunning design.
Our tour will also take us to the Carmen Alto Temple, a historic landmark with strong ties to the Guelaguetza tradition. We will conclude our journey in the Cruz de Piedra Square after a two-hour exploration.
