On this Muisca tour of Tunja, explore the pre-Hispanic legacy of the Boyaca region through significant sites related to the Amerindian indigenous people.

Highlights

We will pick you up from your hotel in Tunja and head to Hunzahua Well, a sacred site for the ancient Hunza people, who were part of the Muisca civilization in pre-Columbian times.

After exploring the well's origins, we will proceed to the Los Cojines del Zaque Archaeological Park, an ancient Muisca sanctuary that functioned as an astronomical study center and an offering site. Next, we will examine the significant Loma de los Ahorcados.

Our itinerary continues to Moyas de San Ricardo to visit the remnants of an ancient Muisca planetarium. Following this, we will observe pictograms along the Farfacá River and appreciate Muisca culture-themed murals throughout Tunja.

We will then stop at a downtown Tunja restaurant for a traditional Boyacá lunch, which includes an appetizer, a choice of meat or fish for the main course, and a beverage. While enjoying our meal, we will discuss Muisca gastronomic traditions.

Approximately 7 hours after pickup, we will return to Tunja.
