Phnom Baset & Udong Private Day Trip

At the designated time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Phnom Penh and travel to the hilltop temple complex of Phnom Baset, located 18 miles (30 km) northeast of the capital. We will make a stop in a village with a large Muslim community of Cham people.

After learning about Cham traditions and culture, we will proceed to Phnom Baset. Atop a hill surrounded by green plains and rice paddies, the historic Buddhist buildings, including the 8th-century Pre-Angkorian temple and the Phnom Baset pagoda featuring the reclining Buddha, offer breathtaking views.

Next, we will head to Udong, a former capital of Cambodia. We will take a break for a typical picnic lunch before visiting the town's various temples in the afternoon.

Udong houses three large stupas preserving the ashes of three great kings. The guide will provide insights into their history, and you will visit the Vihara of the 18 Cubit Buddha, a significant Buddha statue that remains a highlight despite war damage.

Finally, we will return to Phnom Penh, stopping in Kompong Luong to learn about local handicrafts and admire unique objects made in the area.
