Follow the traces of the Roman Empire and the Nuragic civilization in this archaeological tour of Olbia. Ancient fortresses and cave monuments await!
Olbia Archaeology Tour
At 2 pm, we'll meet at Molo Brin near Olbia's marina. We'll embark on a tuk tuk for a tour of the archaeological sites of this Sardinian city to learn about the history of these lands.
During the tour, we'll stop at various monuments for individual exploration, aided by an audioguide in English.
The first stop will be the Basilica of San Simplicio, an 11th-century Romanesque temple. Next, we will visit the Roman aqueduct of Olbia, which supplied water from the nearby mountain of Cabu Abbas. Nearby, we'll view an ancient Roman cistern designed for rainwater storage.
Before the Romans, Olbia was home to a Nuragic settlement from the Bronze Age. We will see the ruins of the sacred well Sa Testa and the Giants' Grave of Su Mont'e s'Abe, known for its impressive rocky constructions reaching 92 feet (28 meters).
Our final stop will be the exterior of Castello di Pedres, built in the 13th century, which originally featured four towers, of which one remains.
We will conclude the tour at 5:30 pm at the starting point.
