Olbia Archaeology Tour
At 2 pm we'll meet at Molo Brin near Olbia's marina. We'll hop into a tuk tuk and start a tour of the archaeological sites of this Sardinian city.
During our tour, we'll make several stops at different monuments to explore them on your own with the provided audioguide in English.
The first stop will be at the Basilica of San Simplicio, a Romanesque temple from the 11th century. Next, we'll see the Roman aqueduct of Olbia, which supplied water from the nearby mountain of Cabu Abbas. Close by, there's an ancient Roman cistern used for storing rainwater.
Before the Romans, this area was home to a Nuragic settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. Here, we can observe the ruins of the sacred well Sa Testa and the Giants' Grave of Su Mont'e s'Abe, a cemetery known for its massive structures reaching 92 feet (28 meters).
Finally, we'll visit the exterior of Castello di Pedres, a 13th-century castle that originally featured four towers, one of which remains.
We'll finish the tour at 5:30 pm at the starting point.
