1-Day Tour
At the designated time, you will be collected from your accommodation in Ollantaytambo, commencing our journey towards the Huilloc community, where you will witness the daily lives of this indigenous group from the Cusco region.
Upon arrival, a warm welcome awaits from the members of a cooperative of craftswomen located in this vibrant textile-producing community. They will showcase their weaving techniques and share insights about the fabrics they produce, alongside their connection to Andean traditions and history.
Following the demonstration, a delightful Pachamanca lunch will be served, featuring chicken and either potatoes or sweet potatoes, all prepared in a traditional oven. Before concluding your visit, you will have the opportunity to purchase a handmade fabric item as a keepsake.
After approximately six hours, you will return to your hotel, signaling the end of the tour.
2-Day Tour
For those seeking a more leisurely experience, consider opting for the 2-day tour. This package allows you to engage with a Huilloc family for an entire day and enjoy a night's stay in their home.
This extended visit will provide you with a deeper understanding of their everyday practices. We will also explore one of the region's glacier-origin lakes and have the chance to interact with the alpacas, iconic animals that significantly support numerous Andean families' livelihoods.
You will experience shared meals with the family, including a traditional lunch of Pachamanca, showcasing the culinary methods typical of these communities.
Your itinerary will also include a visit to a textile market, where you can admire the craftsmanship that the Cusco region is renowned for. After a fulfilling day, there will be time to relax.
The following morning, a traditional Andean breakfast will be served, featuring tea, oats, eggs, potatoes, and ponche de habas, a refreshing drink made from beans and oats.
As you conclude your immersion into the local culture, the tour will wrap up with your return to the hotel in Ollantaytambo. We look forward to welcoming you again!
