Nelson Mandela's house, the Hector Pieterson Museum, Desmond Tutu's house... On this bike tour of Soweto, we'll learn about the history of South Africa!
Bike Tour of Soweto
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Kumalo Street to start this bike tour of Soweto, one of the significant neighborhoods in Johannesburg.
Once everyone's set up with their bikes and helmets, we'll begin our ride through Soweto. We’ll start the tour in Killarney, discussing how Soweto was established in 1904.
Next, we'll visit the house of Lilian Ngoyi, an anti-apartheid activist advocating for the rights of South African women. Then, we’ll proceed to the Hector Pieterson Museum, the site of the Soweto Uprising, a pivotal event against apartheid.
We will also stop at Nelson Mandela's house, where he lived from 1946 to 1962, before his presidency. Following that, we'll visit Desmond Tutu's house, home of the South African clergyman and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, awarded in 1984.
Finally, we'll take a break for lunch, enjoying a kota sandwich, a typical South African dish.
After 4 hours of biking through Soweto, the activity will conclude, and we’ll return to the meeting point for farewells.
