Bike Tour of Soweto
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Kumalo Street to start this bike tour of Soweto, a significant neighborhood in Johannesburg. After setting up with bikes and helmets, we'll pedal through Soweto, beginning the tour in Killarney, discussing the neighborhood's creation in 1904.
Next, we'll visit the house of Lilian Ngoyi, a key anti-apartheid activist who fought for the rights of South African women. Following this, we'll head to the Hector Pieterson Museum, site of the Soweto Uprising, a major event against the apartheid system.
We will also explore Nelson Mandela's house, where he resided from 1946 to 1962, before his presidency. The tour includes a stop at Desmond Tutu's house, home of the Nobel Peace Prize winner from 1984.
Lastly, we will take a lunch break to enjoy a kota sandwich, a typical South African dish. After 4 hours of biking through Soweto, we will conclude the activity and return to the meeting point.
