Caves of Sant Josep Day Trip

We will meet at the Oropesa del Mar Tourist Office and travel by minibus to the Sierra Espadán Natural Park, located in the municipality of Vall de Uxó. The Caves of Sant Josep await after a 50-minute drive.

The Caves of Sant Josep, the most famous natural attraction in Castellón, have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

We will take a boat trip to explore the Vall de Uxó caves, sailing along the longest underground river in Europe while discussing the main geological features. Keep an eye out for stalactites and stalagmites from the boat.

Next, we will walk through the 250-metre (829-foot) long gallery to learn about the history of the caves, which were inhabited over 15,000 years ago, as evidenced by cave paintings and animal bones found here.

After 40 minutes of exploring, we'll return to the surface to admire the surrounding area before taking the minibus back to Oropesa del Mar, arriving 5 hours later.
