Day Trip to the Caves of Sant Josep

At the arranged time, our meeting point will be in front of the Tourist Office in Oropesa del Mar. From there, we'll board our minibus and set off towards the Sierra Espadán Natural Park, the area encompassing the charming municipality of Vall de Uxó. The adventure within the Caves of Sant Josep is just around the corner!

After approximately 50 minutes of travel, we will arrive at the renowned Caves of Sant Josep, Castellón's premier natural attraction, which holds the distinction of being a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We'll embark on a boat tour that allows us to delve into the mesmerizing Vall de Uxó caves. As we glide along the longest subterranean river in Europe, knowledgeable guides will highlight the key geological aspects of this unique formation. Keep an eye out for impressive stalactites and stalagmites from your boat seat.

Following the boat ride, we’ll continue our adventure with a stroll through the 250-meter (829-foot) long gallery, where the history of these caves unfolds. Evidence indicates that these caves were occupied over 15,000 years ago, with discoveries of cave paintings and animal remains that testify to ancient human presence.

After a thorough exploration lasting around 40 minutes, we’ll resurface and take in the breathtaking landscape. We will then board the minibus once more for our return trip to Oropesa del Mar, arriving approximately 5 hours later.
