Peñiscola Day Trip
We'll meet at 9:15 am next to the Oropesa del Mar Tourist Office. A minibus will transport us to Peñíscola.
After a 40-minute journey, we'll arrive at this town on the Costa del Azahar. During the guided tour, we will explore its most notable monuments and learn about the influences of Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, and Arabs.
From the old artillery park, we'll view Peñíscola's northern beach and Pope Luna's castle. We will take photos of the façade before entering this fortress, discussing the historical significance of the Western Schism.
The tour will also include the exteriors of other emblematic buildings, such as the Casa de las Conchas and the Church of Santa Maria from the 13th century.
We will visit the Bufador, a natural hole producing a howling sound, which, according to legend, scared away potential attackers.
The final destination will be the Museum of the Sea. Here, we will explore photographs, drawings, fishing equipment, and objects related to the town's seafaring tradition.
After visiting the museum, we will conclude our trip and return by minibus, arriving back in Oropesa del Mar at 1:45 pm.
