High cliffs on an idyllic beach, a castle built by the Knights Templar, and an exiled Pope. Discover the charms of Peñíscola and its history with this excursion.

Peñiscola Day Trip

We'll meet at 9:15 am next to the Oropesa del Mar Tourist Office, where a minibus will take us to Peñíscola.

After a 40-minute journey, we'll arrive at this town on the Costa del Azahar. The guided tour will cover its most famous monuments influenced by Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, and Arabs.

From the old artillery park, we will view Peñíscola's northern beach and Pope Luna's castle. We will enter this fortress and learn about the Western Schism in the Catholic Church.

The route will also include the exteriors of other emblematic buildings such as the Casa de las Conchas and the Church of Santa Maria from the 13th century.

We will visit the Bufador, a hole in the rocks that produces a howling sound, which according to legends, scared away attackers.

Our last stop will be the Museum of the Sea. Here, we will learn about the seafaring tradition of this Castilian town through photographs, drawings, and fishing equipment.

After the museum visit, we will return by minibus, concluding the tour at 1:45 pm back in Oropesa del Mar.
