Villafamés Day Trip
At 3:30 pm, we'll meet outside the Oropesa del Mar Tourist Office to start the trip. We will travel by minibus for 30 minutes to Villafamés.
Upon arrival, we'll begin a guided tour of the historic centre of the village, designated a Site of Cultural Interest. The tour will highlight how its strategic location on a hill has influenced its history.
We will see the façade of the church of La Asunción, the characteristic stone houses, and the castle from the time of Muslim rule. Additional historical context will be provided about these buildings.
Next, we'll visit the Roca Grossa, a large stone mass shrouded in mystery. Participants are invited to make three wishes, with the legend stating that only one will be granted. Myths related to this site will be discussed.
The final stop will be the Museum of Contemporary Art of Villafamés, in the Batlle Palace. The exhibition includes works spanning different artistic trends from the 1920s to the present.
The tour concludes at 7:30 pm with a drop-off in Oropesa del Mar.
