Why Visit The Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg?
At the indicated time, visit the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg, a medieval fortress built in the 12th century by the Hohenstaufen family. Throughout its history, the castle changed ownership among influential rulers, including the Habsburgs in the 15th century. After being abandoned and destroyed during the Thirty Years' War, it was restored in 1900 by Wilhelm II of Germany, who entrusted the project to Bodo Ebhardt. The castle now serves as both a historical monument and an educational site, attracting over half a million visitors annually.
Your ticket allows access to a self-guided tour. Explore the lower courtyard, castle inn, forge, and mill. Climb spiral staircases to furnished chambers, cross drawbridges, and immerse yourself in the castle's rich history.
