Free Tour of Kyoto
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Sanjo Station to start this free tour of Kyoto. First, we'll walk along the banks of the Kamogawa River while learning about the history of Kyoto, which was the capital of Japan from 794 to 1868. The tour will proceed to Gion, the geisha district, where we’ll learn about these women and admire the traditional wooden houses built in the Machi-Ya architectural style.
The next stop will be Chion-in Temple, a major Buddhist temple in Kyoto. After learning about its history, we will continue to Hisashi-Yama, an important historical area where we’ll discover stories of ancient Japanese emperors and samurai warriors known as shoguns. After exploring Kyoto for approximately 2.5 hours, we'll conclude our free tour in front of the Yasaka Pagoda.
