Imperial Palace + Nijo Castle Guided Tour

Meet us at the Nijojo-Mae train station at the designated time. Once everyone's gathered, we'll explore the Kyoto Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle!

Our first stop will be the Imperial Palace, former residence of the Japanese royal family. The main building, originally constructed in 1630, was destroyed by fire in 1854. Today stands a meticulous reconstruction completed a year later.

During the tour, we'll stroll through various palace rooms, learning about the Japanese court's culture and its role in state meetings. We'll also visit its gardens: the Oikeniwa, the main garden, and the Gonaitei, both featuring beautiful flowers and trees.

Next is Nijo Castle, which once served as the residence of the first Shogun of the Tokugawa dynasty. This fortress features a series of buildings surrounded by a moat, covering over 200,000 square meters (2,152,782 square feet).

As we walk through the castle, you will see rooms decorated with Edo period paintings, with ceilings and walls lined with rice paper and tatami flooring. An intricate design that will captivate you!

After the guided tour, we will go to the Imadegawa Station, where we will say goodbye 3 hours later.
