Join us on a journey through time in our free tour of Nara, and explore ancient Japan while visiting some of the nation's most significant shrines and temples.
Nara Free Walking Tour
We'll meet at Kintetsu train station at the scheduled time. Nara served as the capital of Japan from 710 to 784.
Our first stop will be Kofukuji, featuring a towering five-story pagoda over 50 meters (164 feet) tall, the second-tallest wooden pagoda in Japan.
Next, we'll visit Nara Park, famous for its free-roaming deer. It's often referred to as the "city of deer!" Prepare your camera for capturing these animals.
As we stroll through the area adorned with cherry blossoms, we will pass by the National Museum, which focuses on Japan's Buddhist religious heritage, and the significant Todai-ji, a notable Buddhist temple.
We will proceed to the Nigatsudo Temple, a World Heritage Site and part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara. This will conclude our journey into the past.
We'll return to the starting point 2.5 hours after the tour begins.
