Indulge in the delights of Japanese cuisine on this food tasting tour of Nishiki Market and discover Kyoto's charming Ponto-ch? district, known for its geisha houses.
Nishiki Market Food Tour
We'll meet at 9:30 am by the statue of Izumo-no-Okuni at Gion Station-Shij? to explore Kyoto's most typical delicacies and its charming streets.
After crossing the Kamo River, we will stroll through Ponto-ch?, which is famous for its geisha houses. The area has a preserved historical significance, with traditional architecture dating back to the 17th century.
Next, we will arrive at Nishiki Market, where up to five tastings of typical Kyoto delicacies will be available, including sweet dumplings, octopus, matcha ice cream, and tamagoyaki. There will be a variety of options to satisfy different tastes.
With over 400 years of history, the market is colloquially known as "Kyoto's pantry". Guests will learn about the ingredients used in local recipes and experience traditional treats while exploring numerous food stalls.
Our tour will conclude outside Nishiki Market at 11:30 am.
