Why Explore Osaka Castle?

Situated within a picturesque public park in this dynamic port city, Osaka Castle is a crucial part of Japan's unification narrative from the 16th century. Visitors can explore up to 8 floors within and wander across 5 outdoor levels, all while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of Osaka's skyline.

The 20th-century reconstruction of the castle serves as the most faithful rendering of the original structure. Throughout its history, the castle has witnessed numerous challenges, including fires and clan conflicts. One of the highlights is the museum housed in the main keep, featuring displays that celebrate the life and impact of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a prominent figure from the Sengoku period recognized for his role in the civil wars that led to national unification.

Additionally, you’ll find remarkable life-size representations of the shachihoko, an iconic tiger fish known in Japanese mythology. A visit to the 7th floor rewards you with a 360-degree observation deck, providing a comprehensive view of the urban landscape.
