What Makes Sumo Training Sessions Unique?

Recognized as Japan's national sport and a significant aspect of its cultural heritage, sumo wrestling is one of the oldest wrestling practices. The earliest documented sumo bout dates back to 23 BC, marked by a dramatic conclusion involving one of the competitors.

Attending a sumo match immerses you in a tradition that traces its roots to the samurai, demonstrating how the sport has adapted to modern times while preserving its essence. Observing the dedication wrestlers display to maintain their balance and stay within the ring is truly captivating. Additionally, the ceremonial rituals preceding each bout and the mutual respect among wrestlers contribute to the richness of the experience.

Available Tour Options

When you reserve your spot, you have the choice of two distinct experiences, both hosted at the Ochiizumibeya restaurant in Rinkuoraiminami. Below are the details for each option.

Show Only (40 Minutes)

Upon your arrival at the venue, you’ll be seated directly in front of the sumo ring. The host will greet you and introduce the various wrestlers who will compete. For a duration of 40 minutes, you will observe their intense clashes as they strive for dominance.

Show + Meal (1.5 hours)

This option enhances your experience by combining the match with a taste of traditional sumo cuisine. During the event, you’ll be served Chankonabe, a robust stew filled with varieties of meats, alongside vegetables, seaweed, eggs, and an accompaniment of noodles or rice.
