On this canoe ride on Lake San Pablo, you'll sail in a traditional boat made from reed with the Imbabura Volcano as the backdrop.

Canoe Ride Details

At the specified time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Otavalo and proceed to Lake San Pablo, located 10 kilometers from the town. Once there, we will learn about the local construction of traditional canoes called "caballito de totora," made from reed plants found on the lake's shore. Safety measures and necessary equipment will be provided, and we will adapt to your level whether you have prior experience or not.

During the 1.5-hour canoe tour, you'll row in double canoes and observe various bird species such as cormorants, Andean gulls, and Kentish plovers. After the tour, we will return to the pier for a light lunch, consisting of a sandwich, a bottle of water, and a piece of fruit while enjoying views of the Imbabura Volcano. We will conclude the 3-hour activity by returning you to your hotel in Otavalo.

Hotel Pickup

This tour includes hotel pickup only for those staying in the center of Otavalo. For hotels located outside this area, we will contact you to find an alternative meeting point or arrange for pickup at your hotel for an additional fee.

  • Hotel pickup & drop–off
