Excursion to Sandy Turtle Conservation Center

During this excursion to the Sandy Turtle Conservation Center at Mahahual Beach, participants will learn about turtles and environmental conservation. The meeting point is at the Mahahual Lighthouse. Following this, a 40-minute drive will take the group to the Sandy Turtle Center.

At the center, attendees will receive a talk on the impact of plastic pollution in oceans and the conservation efforts in place. Afterward, participants will engage in a beach cleanup at Mahahual Beach to contribute to environmental efforts.

After the cleanup, a selection of fruits and pastries will be provided as a snack. The second part of the activity focuses on sea turtles, where participants will learn about the white turtle and loggerhead sea turtle from accompanying biologists. To enhance the experience, the group will also explore the beach for turtle replicas and nests.

The total duration of the activity is 4 hours, concluding with a return to the starting point.
