Description

We will meet at your chosen time in Piazza Castello in Otranto, located in the heel of the Italian boot. From there, we will embark on a walking tour of the city's iconic buildings.

During the tour, we will admire the façade of the 15th-century Aragonese Castle and discuss the various historic periods and civilizations that Otranto has experienced, including the Romans, Lombards, Ottomans, and Venetians.

We will walk through the town's streets, view churches, the harbour, the beach, and the Monument for the Martyrs of Otranto, and visit the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Annunciation, an example of Apulian Romanesque architecture. Inside the cathedral, we will observe the ancient mosaics and discuss their significance.

The tour lasts for 1.5 hours, concluding with farewells outside the cathedral.
