Description

We'll meet at Piazza Castello in Otranto, located in the heel of the Italian boot. From this point in the old quarter, we will commence a walking tour of the city's iconic buildings.

We will observe the façade of the 15th-century Aragonese Castle and discuss the various historic periods and civilizations that Otranto has experienced, including the Romans, Lombards, Ottomans, and Venetians.

As we walk through the charming streets, we will visit churches, the harbour, the beach, the Monument for the Martyrs of Otranto, among others. We will also enter the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Annunciation, notable for its Romanesque style. Inside, we will admire the ancient mosaics and explore their significance.

After the 1.5-hour private tour of Otranto, we will conclude our visit outside the cathedral.
