Tour itinerary: Congonhas and Mariana excursion

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Ouro Preto at the scheduled time and begin our expedition to Mariana and Congonhas.

Our first stop is Congonhas, where we visit the Sanctuary of the Lord Good Jesus of Matosinhos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. Discover its history as a colonial-era pilgrimage center and view the Twelve Prophets of the Old Testament sculptures by Aleijadinho.

Next, we'll see the chapels of Passos da Paixão de Cristo and visit Congonhas' museum for insights into the city's history.

After a one-hour lunch break at a local restaurant, we'll travel to Mariana, the former capital of Minas Gerais. Explore Minas Gerais Square with its colonial-era monuments including the Pelourinho and Casa de Câmara e Cadeia.

We'll visit the Cathedral, also known as the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption, dating back to 1703, and then the Nossa Senhora do Carmo Church.

Concluding our journey, we'll explore the Passagem mine to learn about metal extraction. After nine hours of exploration, we'll return to Ouro Preto, finalizing our tour.
