Day Trip to Mariana
At 9 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ouro Preto and head east to Mariana. The minibus ride will take 30 minutes.
Upon arrival, we'll visit Minas Gerais square, the heart of the village, offering a panoramic view of the town's streets, houses, and surrounding mountains.
During the tour, we'll see the exterior of the City Hall, the Carmen and San Francisco churches, and the Pelourinho, used for issuing punishments during colonial times.
After exploring the historic center of Mariana, we will go to the Passagem gold mine. There, we'll board a mining wagon and descend to see the galleries and tunnels. Almost 35 tons of gold were extracted from this mine, benefiting the Portuguese Crown.
