Day Trip to Mariana
At 9 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ouro Preto and head east to visit Mariana. The minibus ride will take 30 minutes.
Once we arrive, we'll approach Minas Gerais square, the heart of the village, where we can enjoy a panoramic view of the town and the surrounding mountains.
During the tour, we'll see the exterior of the City Hall, the Carmen and San Francisco churches, and the Pelourinho, a building used for punishments in colonial times.
After exploring the historic center of Mariana, we'll return to the minibus and go to the Passagem gold mine. Here, we'll board a mining wagon and descend to see the galleries and tunnels. Historically, nearly 35 tons of gold were extracted from this mine for the Portuguese Crown.
We'll return to the surface and finish the tour at 12 noon, arriving back at your hotel in Ouro Preto.
