Day Trip to Mariana
At 9 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Ouro Preto and head east to visit Mariana. The minibus ride will take 30 minutes.
Upon arrival, we'll approach Minas Gerais square, the heart of the village, where we can enjoy a panoramic view of the town and the surrounding mountains.
During the tour, we'll see the exterior of the City Hall, Carmen and San Francisco churches, and the Pelourinho, a building used for punishments in colonial times.
After exploring the historic center of Mariana, we will return to the minibus and head to the Passagem gold mine. We'll board a mining wagon and descend into the depths to see the galleries and tunnels beneath the surface, where almost 35 tons of gold were extracted for the Portuguese Crown.
We will conclude the excursion at 12 noon, returning to your hotel in Ouro Preto.
