Day Trip to Tiradentes & São João del-Rei

Visit two historic cities in Minas Gerais in one day! This tour to Tiradentes and São João del-Rei explores the 18th-century origins of these colonial towns.

Day Trip Details

After picking you up at your hotel in Ouro Preto at 7 am, we'll travel southwest to São João del-Rei, with a minibus ride lasting about three and a half hours.

Upon arrival, we'll embark on a guided tour of São João del-Rei, established in 1713. We'll explore the streets of the colonial era and view the colorful low houses of the historic center.

During the tour, visits include the churches of Carmen and Pilar, showcasing Brazilian colonial baroque art. We will also take time to visit the Tancredo Neves museum-memorial to learn about this notable politician. An hour of free time will follow for lunch.

Nearby is Tiradentes, our next destination, also founded in the 18th century. We'll tour the old town and its main monuments, such as the church of San Antonio and the old jail. Additionally, a visit to the Padre Toledo Museum, a manor house reflecting the style of nobles in Portugal, will be included.

The excursion concludes at 5 pm, returning you to your hotel.
