Day Trip to Tiradentes & São João del-Rei

Visit two historic cities in Minas Gerais in one day! On this tour to Tiradentes and São João del-Rei, we'll explore the origins of these colonial towns.

Day Trip to Tiradentes & São João del-Rei

After picking you up at your hotel in Ouro Preto at 7 am, we will head southwest to São João del-Rei. The minibus ride will take about three and a half hours.

Once there, we will take a guided tour of São João del-Rei, a town dating back to 1713. We will stroll through the historic center and see the colorful low houses.

During the tour, we will visit the churches of Carmen and Pilar, notable examples of Brazilian colonial baroque art. We will also visit the Tancredo Neves museum-memorial to learn about this Brazilian politician. Afterward, you will have an hour of free time for lunch.

Next, we will travel to Tiradentes. We will tour the old town and its main monuments, including the church of San Antonio and the old jail. We will also visit the Padre Toledo Museum, a manor house reflecting the style of noble houses in Portugal.

We'll finish the excursion at 5 pm, returning you to your hotel.
