Day Trip Details
At 7 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ouro Preto to begin our excursion to two historical cities in Minas Gerais. Our first stop will be Congonhas, established in the 17th century by early settlers. You'll experience a guided tour of the old town, where we will visit the Chapel of the Steps, colonial houses, the History Museum, and the Sanctuary of the Good Jesus of Matosinhos, noted for its European Baroque influences.
Next, we'll proceed to Mariana, recognized as the birthplace of the Minas Gerais civilization. This Baroque town features stunning churches, buildings, and museums reflecting colonial roots similar to Congonhas. Here, we'll visit the Catedral da Sé de Mariana, the Iglesia de São Francisco de Asís, and the Plaza de Minas Gerais, showcasing treasures of colonial mining art.
