On this tour of Ouro Preto, we will explore its history as a key site for Brazilian independence, visiting its churches and museums while discussing the gold rush that significantly impacted the region.

Ouro Preto Tour

The tour begins at 9 am with a hotel pickup to explore the main monuments of Ouro Preto. The city was previously known as Vila Rica, which flourished during the 18th century due to the gold rush.

We will walk through the historic center, visiting notable religious buildings, including the San Francisco church, designed by renowned baroque artist Antônio Francisco Lisboa. We will appreciate the interior of the Pilar church and the Carmo church, influenced by the rococo style. Additionally, we will visit the Oratory Museum, featuring over 150 religious images from the 17th to 20th centuries.

During the tour, we will pause for lunch at a restaurant of your choice.

After lunch, we will continue to the Inconfidência Museum, where we will learn about the 1789 revolt aimed at achieving independence from Portugal, occurring concurrently with the French Revolution.
