On this tour of Ouro Preto, we will explore the history of the city known as the cradle of Brazilian independence, visiting its churches and museums related to the gold rush.
Ouro Preto Tour
At 9 am, we will pick you up at your hotel to begin the tour of Ouro Preto, discovering the main monuments of the city.
Formerly called Vila Rica, we will discuss the gold rush that brought wealth to the town in the 18th century.
Our walk through the historic center will include visits to three notable religious buildings: the church of San Francisco, designed by baroque artist Antônio Francisco Lisboa, the beautifully decorated Pilar church, and the Carmo church in rococo style. We will also visit the Oratory Museum, which features over 150 religious images from the 17th to the 20th century.
For lunch, we will stop at a restaurant of your choice.
After lunch, we will proceed to the Inconfidência Museum to discuss the 1789 revolt aimed at achieving independence from Portugal, which coincided with the French Revolution.
The tour will conclude at 4 pm, followed by a drop-off at your hotel.
