Join us for an evening hike to experience a stunning sunset in the Coquimbo region of Chile atop Tamaya hill. Low levels of light pollution enhance the sunset's beauty.

Sunset Hike on Tamaya Hill

We will pick you up at your hotel in Ovalle at the scheduled time and travel to the historic mining center of Tamaya, a significant site for copper extraction in the past.

Upon arrival, we will start hiking at Tamaya hill as the sun begins to set. This hike covers 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) on a medium-difficulty trail with an altitude change of 317 meters (1040 feet).

The highlight will be reaching the top of Tamaya hill, which stands at 1180 meters (3,870 feet) above sea level. We will pause for a snack, including juice, a cereal bar, and cookies.

Participants will enjoy views of the coasts, valleys, and mountain ranges of Coquimbo. Photography enthusiasts are encouraged to bring their cameras for capturing Chilean landscapes.

Afterward, we will return to the hiking starting point and transport you back to your hotel in Ovalle, arriving about five hours after pickup.

Hotel Pickup

This activity includes pickup from hotels in downtown Ovalle. For those in more remote areas, we will meet you at the scheduled time at Plaza de Armas, the central square of the city.

Included

  • Hotel pickup and drop off
  • Bus or minibus transport
  • Spanish–speaking guide
  • Hiking poles
  • Snack
