Valle del Encanto Tour

We'll see petroglyphs, stone castings and other remains on this archaeological tour of Valle del Encanto, one of the main archaeological sites in Chile.

Description

After picking you up from your hotel in Ovalle, we'll head to the Valle del Encanto, an important archaeological site from Prehistory about 20 km (12.5 miles) away.

We'll start our visit by observing the petroglyphs of the Valle del Encanto, believed to belong to the Molle culture, with origins over 2,000 years ago. During the route, we'll learn about this ancient population.

Continuing our tour, we'll contemplate the various remains of stone castings, featuring circular concavities drilled into the rock. These holes may have been used for grinding food or for ceremonial purposes.

We will explore the prehistoric site further, aiming to uncover the real use of the stone castings, which are found across central Chile and its surroundings.

Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Ovalle, arriving at 1 pm.
