Valle del Encanto Tour

We'll see petroglyphs, stone castings and other remains on this archaeological tour of Valle del Encanto, one of the main archaeological sites in Chile.

Description

After picking you up from your hotel in Ovalle, we'll head to the Valle del Encanto, located about 20 km (12.5 miles) away.

We'll start our visit by observing the petroglyphs of the Valle del Encanto. Historians suggest these stone engravings could belong to the Molle culture. During the route, we will learn about this ancient population, whose origins date back over 2,000 years.

Continuing our tour, we'll observe the various stone castings. These surfaces feature a series of circular concavities drilled into the rock, believed to be used for grinding food, although some experts suggest a ceremonial purpose.

We will explore the prehistoric site to discover the true purpose of the stone castings, which are found across central Chile and its surroundings.

Finally, we will return to your hotel in Ovalle, arriving at 1 pm.
