Day Trip Details
We'll pick you up at the specified meeting point in the center of Oviedo and travel to the east of Asturias to visit the Lakes of Covadonga in the Picos de Europa National Park.
The first stop will be at the Entrelagos viewpoint for a panoramic view of Lake Ercina and Lake Enol. After learning about their glacial origin, we'll visit the Basilica of Santa María la Real de Covadonga, constructed between 1877 and 1901, and learn about King Pelayo and the Spanish Reconquest.
Next, we’ll explore the Covadonga Sanctuary, seeing the cave with the image of the Virgin and visiting the Royal Pantheon, where Don Pelayo and other Asturian kings are interred.
Afterward, we’ll head to Cangas de Onís for a brief guided tour followed by 2 hours of free time for lunch and photography near the iconic Roman bridge of Cangas and the Victoria Cross.
Finally, we’ll continue to Lastres for a guided tour before returning to the meeting point after 12 hours.
