Day Trip Overview

At the appointed hour, we will collect you from the chosen meeting point and set off eastward to explore one of Asturias' hidden gems: Covadonga. This trip will be in a minibus accommodating up to 8 travelers, allowing for a more intimate experience.

Our first stop will be Ercina Lake, nestled within the stunning Picos de Europa National Park. Traveling in a compact vehicle enables us to approach the lakes closely without the need for extensive walking. At the Entrelagos viewpoint, you will enjoy breathtaking vistas of the Covadonga lakes framed by the surrounding alpine scenery.

Next, we will proceed to the Holy Cave of Covadonga, home to the iconic image of La Santina and the tomb of Don Pelayo, the inaugural king of the Asturian monarchy. The striking landscape around this sacred site is sure to leave you in awe!

After delving into the cave’s rich history and understanding the significance of the Virgin of Covadonga to the people of Asturias, we will continue to the Basilica of Santa María la Real in Covadonga, a distinguished example of neo-Romanesque architecture in Spain.

To conclude this small-group adventure, we will travel to Cangas de Onís. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit the renowned Roman bridge and enjoy approximately 1 hour of free time to explore or enjoy a meal at your leisure.

Our journey will wrap up as we return to the starting location after a delightful day lasting around 8 hours.
