Explore a historic and beautiful city on our Oxford Walking Tour. We'll stroll around the outsides of the magnificent buildings that make up the University of Oxford, one of the world's most prestigious universities.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Carfax Tower, located along Queen St, in the city centre and set off on our walking tour of Oxford.
We will begin at Carfax Tower, a 13th-century stone tower and an Oxford landmark. From here, we'll walk to the replica of the famous Bridge of Sighs in Venice, which connects the buildings of Herford College. We'll see the outside of the Bodleian Bookshop, Radcliffe Camera, and St. Mary the Virgin Church in Radcliffe Square.
We will also visit Christ Church College, home to an important collection of over 300 paintings by artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rubens, and Van Dyck. This location was also used as a set in the Harry Potter films.
As we explore, we'll discuss facts about Oxford, including requirements to study at the university and notable alumni. We'll also explore the connection between J.R.R. Tolkien and the city.
Finally, we'll visit Broad Meadow, one of Oxford's most beautiful public spaces. After 45 minutes of exploring, we’ll return to the starting point to conclude the tour.
