Padula Charterhouse Private Guided Visit

On our Padula Charterhouse Private Guided Visit, we will explore one of southern Italy's most significant monuments. We will visit the cloister, baroque church, and various rooms within this monastic complex.

At your chosen time, we will meet you at the entrance of the Padula Charterhouse to begin our guided visit of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as the Monastery of San Lorenzo, this 14th-century structure is the second-largest Carthusian complex in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. During the guided visit, we will walk through the cloisters, visit the kitchens and refectory, and see the treasury and the church’s exquisite Baroque architecture.

Throughout our exploration, we will discuss the building's history, including its sacking by Napoleon’s soldiers and its use as a prison during World War I.

We will also enter the Archaeological Museum of Western Lucania, located within the monastery, featuring ancient artefacts such as vases, coins, and everyday utensils from the protohistoric to the Hellenistic period.

After a 2-hour visit, we will conclude our tour. If desired, you may continue to explore the monastery at your leisure.
