On this day trip to Famagusta from Paphos, we will cross the Green Line to enter the Turkish side of Cyprus and visit the monastery of St. Barnabas, where the tomb of this apostle is located.
Description
At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Paphos and head to our destination. On the way, we will stop at Choirokitia for a break and coffee.
We will cross the Green Line and arrive at the monastery of St. Barnabas, the burial site of the Cypriot-born apostle. We will visit the museum housing valuable icons and religious relics and see the tomb of St. Barnabas.
Next, we will explore the ruins of Salamis, notable for its amphitheater and gymnasium, before proceeding to Famagusta.
In Famagusta, we will walk around its Venetian-era walls and admire the Gothic architecture of its religious temples, including the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, built in 1312 and converted into a mosque. After this, you will have free time for lunch and shopping.
Finally, we will return to Paphos, stopping at the ghost town of Varosi to see its abandoned houses and sandy beach. We will drop you off back at your hotel in Paphos, arriving eleven hours after pickup.
