After experiencing multiple conflicts, Lakam Ha' fell into neglect and obscurity, as the encroaching jungle reclaimed the majestic temples. It wasn't until centuries later that explorers rediscovered this hidden jewel amidst the verdant wilderness. Today, it stands as a stunning illustration of Maya urban design and construction.
Within the archaeological site of Palenque, you will encounter a plethora of intriguing monuments, including the impressive Temple of the Inscriptions, a towering stepped pyramid that reaches nearly 25 meters (82 feet) in height, serving as the final resting place of the Maya ruler K'inich Janaab' Pakal.
Your exploration of the archaeological zone of Palenque will also lead you to other significant structures, such as the Temple of the Cross, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Skull, and the renowned Tomb of the Red Queen.
