Description
Your ticket provides access to the archaeological site of Palenque, the ancient Maya city of Lakam Ha' with origins dating back to the 3rd century BC. Abandoned after several wars, Lakam Ha' was reclaimed by jungle until its rediscovery. It showcases significant examples of Maya urban planning and architecture.
Within the site, you will find numerous monuments, including the Temple of the Inscriptions, the tallest structure at nearly 25 meters (82 feet) high, where the Maya king K'inich Janaab' Pakal was buried. Other notable temples include the Temple of the Cross, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Skull, and the Tomb of the Red Queen. At the Great Palace, view well-preserved reliefs and a tower used by priests to observe sunsets, all set in a lush jungle.
