Metzabok Day Trip

Cross the Lacandon Jungle and visit Metzabok on our day trip from Palenque. You'll also enjoy a boat ride and view significant cave paintings by the Mayas.

Metzabok Day Trip

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Palenque and begin the 2-hour 30-minute drive to the Metzabok Lagoon.

Upon arrival, we will transfer to a boat for a 2-hour 30-minute boat trip across the lagoon, named after the God of Rain. During this excursion, we will view the notable cave paintings at the base of the Chiapas Mountains.

You will receive information about Metzabok, situated in the heart of the Lacandon Jungle, including details on the Maya Lacandon community's origins.

We will return to the mainland for a 1-hour break for lunch, which you will arrange independently.

Following lunch, we will embark on a jungle walk to explore the local biodiversity. The trip will culminate at a lookout point with views of Metzabok and the surrounding areas.

We will then return to Palenque, arriving around 7 pm.
