Metzabok Day Trip
Your experience begins at 8 am with a pickup from your accommodation in Palenque. From there, we'll travel for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes en route to the Metzabok Lagoon.
Upon arrival, you'll disembark from our minibus and board a boat for an exhilarating crossing of the lagoon, a body of water named in honor of the God of Rain. During our 2-hour and 30-minute boat tour, you'll encounter the renowned and historically significant cave paintings nestled at the base of the Chiapas Mountains.
As we navigate through Metzabok, located deep within the Lacandon Jungle, we will share intriguing insights about its history and the Maya Lacandon community.
Midway through our journey, we will pause at the mainland for a 1-hour break, providing you the opportunity to enjoy lunch independently.
After your meal, we’ll embark on a jungle trek where you can explore the rich biodiversity of this unique environment. The trek will lead us to a viewpoint, offering spectacular vistas of Metzabok and its natural surroundings.
As our day winds down, we'll make our way back to Palenque, with an expected arrival around 7 pm.
