Urban art, traditional markets and stories of the Second World War star in this free alternative tour of Palermo. We'll get to know the other side of Sicily's capital!
See Palermo from a New Perspective
At the indicated time, we'll meet next to the church of San Ignacio de Olivella to start this free alternative tour of Palermo. This tour explores the authentic and bohemian side of the city.
During the tour, we'll walk through the neighbourhoods of La Loggia and La Kalsa, which still bear signs of the mafia and the Second World War. Participants will learn about notable stories from these areas and observe how urban art has become significant in Sicily's capital.
We will see the social criticism expressed through street art murals and visit the traditional Vucciria market, known for its fish sales.
Next, we will visit the antiques market in Piazza Marina, see the oratory of San Lorenzo, and approach the old port of Palermo to admire the Church of Santa Maria della Catena, dating from the late 15th and early 16th century. Photography opportunities will abound!
After 2 hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude our exploration by the old port of Palermo.
