Tour Details
We'll meet at the scheduled time in front of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, at Piazza Guiseppe Verdi, to start a tour dedicated to civil mobilisation against organised crime.
After observing the Teatro Massimo from the outside, we'll head towards Piazza Beati Paoli, associated with the secret sect from Luigi Natoli's novel. We'll explore the alleged connection between the sect and Cosa Nostra and continue to the Mercato del Capo, believed to have hidden paths used by the Beati Paoli.
Our next stop will be the Piazza della Memoria, home to a memorial dedicated to magistrates killed by the Mafia. We'll then visit Palermo Cathedral to discuss the relationship between the Mafia and the Church, including the story of Don Pino Puglisi.
Passing by the Town Hall, which was a symbol of the connection between Cosa Nostra and politics, we'll proceed to Piazza Magione in the Arab quarter of Kalsa, where Falcone and Borsellino grew up.
Along the way, we'll notice the "Pago chi non paga" campaign logo on shop windows indicating their rejection of the racket, supported by the Addiopizzo Committee, which encourages denouncing extortion in the city.
The tour will conclude after 3 hours at the Fontana Pretoria.
