Sicily Tour: Palermo to Taormina

Day 1: Palermo

We will meet in the evening at the hotel in Palermo for dinner, followed by rest to prepare for the tour the next day.

Day 2: Monreale and Palermo

We depart for Monreale, located 6 miles (10 kilometers) south of Palermo. You'll have free time to explore the old quarter and the cathedral, notable for its fusion of Arabic and Norman architecture. We will return to Palermo to explore the cathedral's façade, originally a Byzantine basilica and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before dinner and overnight at the same hotel.

Day 3: Erice, Saline della Laguna and Agrigento

We visit Erice, set at 2460 feet above sea level. In a local winery, we will learn about regional wine production and enjoy a guided tasting with lunch. Afterward, we'll head to Agrigento to visit the Valley of the Temples (entrance included), a UNESCO World Heritage Site with extensive archaeological treasures, followed by dinner at our hotel in Agrigento.

Day 4: Piazza Armerina and Ragusa

We'll explore Ragusa, including its historical center, palaces, and Baroque churches, featuring the San Giorgio church and San Giuseppe church. We will also visit the beautiful Iblei gardens and Cosentini Palace.

Day 5: Noto and Siracusa

Before heading to Siracusa, we will stop in Noto, an example of a Baroque city. After exploring Noto, we'll visit Ortigia Island in Siracusa, known for its medieval architecture, before proceeding to Taormina for the night.

Day 6: Taormina

We will visit Mount Etna, one of the world's most active volcanoes, with a possible climb to nearly 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) if weather permits. Later, we return to Taormina for dinner at the hotel.

Day 7: Taormina

After breakfast, we conclude our 7-day tour of Sicily.
