Why Visit the Palace of La Almudaina?
Located in front of the Palma Cathedral, the Royal Palace of La Almudaina is one of the most representative historical monuments in Mallorca's capital. With a ticket to La Almudaina, you'll have a chance to explore this building, which serves as the Spanish royal family's official summer residence. The royal household spends the season in the Palace of Marivent in Palma but uses La Almudaina for events like the annual reception for representatives of Balearic high society.
The palace originated as an ancient Arab fortress and was later transformed by the Catholic monarchs into the Mallorcan monarchs' headquarters. The Gothic Hall, used for receiving ambassadors, is one of the most notable rooms. Other important features include the Patio of Honour, the remains of the Arab baths, and the Chapel of Santa Ana, built by King Jaime II in the 14th century.
