Lake Atitlan Villages Tour

Embark on a tour that will take you to the most beautiful villages of Lake Atitlan from Panajachel. We'll sail past volcanoes and discover the Mayan culture of the locals.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the door of Porta Hotel del Lago de Panajachel. From there, we'll head to the pier to board a boat bound for Lake Atitlan.

The tour begins as we cross the lake, exploring the Mayan culture surrounding it and the Mayan villages along its shores, including the Tolimán, Atitlán, and San Pedro volcanoes.

Our first stop is San Juan La Laguna, where we will walk through its narrow streets adorned with indigenous murals and visit a group of Mayan women artisans. We will learn about natural dyeing of fabrics and the chocolate-making process.

Next, we'll visit the neighboring village of San Pedro La Laguna, known for its blend of the hippie community and Mayan population.

We will then board the boat to Santiago Atitlán, which features a local market and vibrant Mayan culture. We will explore the square and church before dining at a local restaurant serving authentic Guatemalan dishes.

Finally, we will return to the boat to cross back to Panajachel, concluding our excursion after approximately 6 to 7 hours.
