This excursion to the Aldama cenotes offers an extraordinary experience in the heart of Tamaulipas, showcasing some of Mexico's most breathtaking natural wonders.
Description
Starting our adventure, we will pick you up from your accommodation in Tampico and set off towards Aldama to embark on our cenote exploration.
We will traverse lush trails leading to the most notable natural pools in the region: El Caracol, La Azufrada, La Pilita, Poza Verde, La Cristalina, and El Zacatón. Did you know that El Zacatón holds the title of the deepest cenote globally, plunging 339 metres (1,112 feet) into the earth?
If you wish, you can take a refreshing swim or paddle on a kayak in this remarkable area. Moving onward, we'll explore Los Cuarteles grotto, which features a series of skylight openings and impressive stalactites reaching lengths of up to 15 metres (49 feet). This grotto is steeped in history, believed to have served as a hideout for guerrilla fighters during the Mexican Revolution.
Afterward, we will proceed to El Salto Waterfall, where a naturally formed pool invites you for a revitalizing dip. To round off our journey, we will indulge in a tasty meal featuring grilled meat or enchiladas with beef jerky. Enjoy your meal!
Upon completing our lunch, we will return to Tampico, with an expected arrival time of around 11 hours later.
