Tour Details
Right in the center of Paris' 4th arrondissement, there is a neighborhood that recounts the city's medieval past. Our free tour of Le Marais will begin at the scheduled time from the Place Pierre-Kauffmann, next to rue des Barres.
This street features cobblestones and beautiful buildings like the Hôtel de Barre and the nuns' house of the Daughters of the Cross.
Next, we will visit the Shoah Memorial, Europe's first Jewish documentation center. From here, we will enter the Jewish Quarter of Paris in Le Marais.
In the Jewish Quarter, we will visit the Hôtel de Sens gardens, where we will learn about the Coquette Palace, where Margaret of Valois is buried. Following this, we'll proceed to Square Marie Trintignant to view its entranceway and observe 19th-century graffiti.
We will continue to Le Village Saint-Paul, a historical area resembling a small medieval town. After exploring its history, we will attempt to navigate a dead-end street without retracing our steps.
Next, we'll uncover the three treasures of Le Marais and discover the only piece of Delacroix that is found outside of a museum. We will then visit the Hôtel de Sully, an elegant palace from the 17th century, exploring its patio and interior garden.
Our journey will bring us to the Place de la Bastille, where we will learn about the historic fort seized on July 14, 1789, marking the start of the French Revolution. After 2 hours, this tour will conclude at Place de la Bastille.
