Tour Details
Dead ends, narrow alleyways... In the 4th arrondissement of Paris, there's a neighborhood that recounts the city's medieval past. The free tour of Le Marais begins at Place Pierre-Kauffmann, next to rue des Barres.
This street features cobblestones and historical buildings such as the Hôtel de Barre and the nuns' house of the Daughters of the Cross.
The tour includes a visit to the Shoah Memorial, which is Europe's first Jewish documentation center, and a key site during the Nuremberg trials. From there, we enter the Jewish Quarter of Le Marais.
In the Jewish Quarter, we'll visit the Hôtel de Sens gardens and learn about the Coquette Palace where Margaret of Valois is buried, followed by a visit to Square Marie Trintignant.
Next, we'll explore Le Village Saint-Paul, a historical area resembling a small medieval town. Then, we'll attempt to navigate a dead-end street without going back the same way.
We will also reveal the three treasures of Le Marais, including the only piece of Delacroix found outside a museum. The tour will proceed to Hôtel de Sully, where we will explore the patio and interior garden, but cannot return once inside.
Finally, the tour concludes at Place de la Bastille, where we will discuss the historic fort stormed on July 14, 1789, marking the start of the French Revolution. The tour lasts 2 hours and ends at Place de la Bastille.
