Tour Details

Dead ends, narrow alleyways...Right in the center of Paris' 4th arrondissement, there is a neighborhood that recounts the city's medieval past. This free tour of Le Marais will begin at the scheduled time from the Place Pierre-Kauffmann, next to rue des Barres.

This picturesque street features cobblestones and historical buildings that transport visitors back to the Middle Ages, such as the Hôtel de Barre and the nuns' house of the Daughters of the Cross.

Next, we will visit the Shoah Memorial, Europe's first Jewish documentation center, and then enter the Jewish Quarter of Paris in Le Marais.

In the Jewish Quarter, we will visit the Hôtel de Sens gardens and learn about the Coquette Palace where Margaret of Valois is buried. We will then head to Square Marie Trintignant to view its entranceway.

Continuing to Le Village Saint-Paul, we will uncover its history and face a challenge: try to leave a dead-end street without retracing our steps.

We will uncover the three treasures of Le Marais and head to the Hôtel de Sully, an elegant 17th-century palace. We'll enter its patio and interior garden but cannot return once inside.

The tour will conclude at the Place de la Bastille after 2 hours, where we will discuss its historical significance related to the French Revolution.
