On this tour of the Ile de la Cité, we'll walk through the oldest part of Paris, visiting Notre-Dame Cathedral from the outside and the church of Saint-Severin for an interior view.
Tour Details
We will meet at 7 Rue Lagrange at the scheduled time and then take a walk along the banks of the River Seine to the Ile de la Cité, where Notre-Dame Cathedral is located.
While we won't enter the interior of the cathedral, we will view its façade and discuss the fire that struck Notre-Dame on 15 April 2019.
Next, a walking tour of the Ile de la Cité will reveal the history of this small island, the origin of Paris, as we admire exterior views of iconic buildings like the Sainte Chapelle and the Conciergerie fortress.
Finally, we will visit the Latin Quarter to see the church of Saint Séverin, known as "Notre Dame's little sister." We will enter to appreciate its architecture, stained glass, and artworks.
The tour will conclude outside Saint Séverin after approximately 1.5 hours.
