Paris Pantheon
The Latin Quarter features the Pantheon: a neoclassical monument with a dome comparable to those of St Peter's and St Paul's. The architecture is inspired by the historic Pantheon in Rome and houses an outstanding collection of wall paintings depicting religious and historical events, such as The Death of Saint Geneviève and Joan of Arc at the Siege of Orleans.
The Pantheon includes sculptural masterpieces, notably the representation of the National Convention and monuments to Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Diderot. A significant attraction is the Pantheon's crypt, which contains the burial sites of figures such as Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, Marie Curie, and Louis Braille.
