Discover one of the world's smallest countries and its cultural heritage on this private 5-day journey through Bhutan.
Description
Day 1: Arrival in Bhutan - Thimphu
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to Paro Ta Dzong, Bhutan's national museum. Following this, a 1-hour drive will take you to Thimphu, the capital, situated at 2,320 meters above sea level. On the way, you can visit Tamchhog Lhakhang. Dinner and hotel transfer will follow.
Day 2: Thimphu
After breakfast, the day involves visiting the city of Thimphu, including sites such as the Buddha Site, Folklore Museum, painting schools, farmer's market, and memorial Chorten. In the evening, the Tashichho Dzong fortress will be visited, allowing for nighttime views of the impressive structure before returning for dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Thimphu – Punakha
After breakfast, travel to Punakha via Dochula Pass, where a stop will be made for drinks and views of the western Himalayas. In the afternoon, visit Dzong de Punakha and Chimi Lhakhang (temple of fertility). Optional rafting on the Mochu River is available in the evening, followed by dinner at the hotel.
Day 4: Punakha – Paro – Paro Taktshang
After breakfast, head to Paro for a hiking adventure to Taktshang (Tiger's Nest monastery), which lasts about 4 hours. Those unable to hike can enjoy views from below. Subsequently, a 40-minute drive to Chele La pass at 3,300 meters will be made to admire Mount Jomo Lhari. The evening will be free for exploration of Paro, with dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: Return flight
After breakfast, return to Paro airport, concluding the 5-day journey.
Accommodation
The tour includes 4 nights of accommodation in a double room at a 3-star hotel. Odd-numbered parties will be paired for double rooms; triple-room accommodations are not available.
