La Cocha Lagoon, Santa Lucía Wetlands Tour + Guamúes River Fishing
We'll meet at 7:30 am in front of the Nariño monument to proceed to La Cocha Lake, the first attraction on our itinerary. In less than an hour, we'll reach this lake, the second largest in Colombia.
We will begin our walk along the El Puerto path, which follows a stream. Next, we will take a boat to explore the Santa Lucia wetlands, a protected area featuring the lowest moorlands in the country, located at 2600 metres (8530 feet) above sea level.
We'll traverse paths through the valleys of frailejones, unique plants that grow one centimetre each year. We will then visit the village of Santa Isabel for a homemade lunch with a local family.
In the afternoon, we will take another boat on the Guámuez River for fishing, a popular activity in the area. We will seek the best spots to fish.
Afterwards, we will return to the mainland and stop at a hotel overlooking La Cocha lake for refreshments. We will conclude our tour by returning to Pasto and arriving back at around 7:30 pm.
