Las Lajas Sanctuary + Tulcán Cemetery Tour
Our adventure begins at 10 am in the Plaza de Nariño in Pasto, where we will set off towards the city of Ipiales, the home of our first destination.
During the two-hour drive, we will delve into the rich history of the Pasto region, exploring its cultural and geographical significance. Before long, we will arrive at the magnificent Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Las Lajas, an impressive neo-Gothic edifice perched above the canyon of the Guáitara River.
This site holds deep spiritual meaning for Colombians, who flock here to pray and pay their respects to the miraculous image of the Señora de Las Lajas. Should you choose, you can participate in the mass held in the church, followed by a visit to the museum, where you can gain insights into the fascinating history of this exquisite place of worship.
After our time at the sanctuary, we will ascend via a cable car over the Guáitara canyon, taking in breathtaking views from above. Our journey continues as we cross into Ecuador to visit the renowned Tulcán Cemetery, known for its meticulously arranged gardens adorned with sculptures shaped from the cemetery's hedges.
To conclude our outing, we will visit a nearby shopping center, allowing you some leisure time before we return to Pasto. We anticipate arriving back at the departure point around 8 pm.
