Come and see the pride and joy of Castellón on our San José Caves Day Trip from Peniscola. You'll admire the geological beauty of this stunning spot, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on foot and by boat.

San José Caves Day Trip

At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Peniscola Tourist Office and begin our San José Caves Day Trip. We'll drive 65 miles (105 kilometres) to the caves located in Vall de Uxó, within the Sierra Espadán Natural Park.

The San José caves were inhabited over 15,000 years ago. You'll learn many facts while we take a boat trip through the caves' interior and navigate the longest underground river in Europe. Its total depth remains unknown, as speleologists have not yet measured it.

From the boat, we'll see the stalactites and stalagmites in the Vall de Uxó caves and walk through a beautiful 820-foot (250 metre) long gallery. The cave maintains a consistent temperature of 20ºC year-round.

After 40 minutes of exploring the caves and learning about their geological features, we'll return to ground level. The trip concludes with our return to Peniscola, completing a total duration of 5 or 6 hours.
