San José Caves Day Trip

At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Peniscola Tourist Office and begin our San José Caves Day Trip. We'll drive 65 miles (105 kilometres) to the caves located in Vall de Uxó, within the Sierra Espadán Natural Park.

The San José caves were inhabited over 15,000 years ago. While on a boat trip through the caves' interior, you'll sail along the longest underground river in Europe. The total depth of this area is still undetermined by speleologists.

From our boat, we'll see the stalactites and stalagmites in the cave walls. We'll also walk through an 820-foot (250 metre) long gallery. The temperature in the cave remains a constant 20ºC all year round.

After 40 minutes of exploring the caves and learning about their geological features, we'll return to ground level and head back to Peniscola, arriving after a total of 5 or 6 hours.
