Marsella Excursion

After picking you up at your hotel in Pereira at 7:30 am, we'll head north towards the town of Marsella, traveling through the coffee plantations of the Cauca River Valley in a 4x4 vehicle.

Upon arrival in Marsella about an hour later, we will visit a local farm where an appetizer of patacones con hogao will be served. We will tour the farm to view the cacao tree fields and learn about the artisanal process of making organic chocolate. We will observe the extraction of cacao beans, roasting, and grinding until we obtain cacao juice that will cool.

The resulting chocolate drink will accompany a typical lunch of sancocho (chicken meat and vegetables), made with farm products.

After lunch, we’ll visit the town of Marsella for a Colombian coffee in the main square and admire the colonial architecture of buildings like the Casa de la Cultura, a museum declared an Asset of Cultural Heritage.

We will also check out the Botanical Garden and the José María Cemetery, a popular attraction.

Finally, we will return to Pereira, dropping you off at your hotel at 4:30 pm.
