Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary Hike
At 8 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel for a journey to the Otún Quimbaya Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, located southwest of Pereira.
We will travel 18 kilometers by road to this natural reserve in the Cordillera Central of the Colombian Andes. The Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary is known for its biodiversity, hosting numerous bird species, insects, small mammals, and plants.
Upon arrival, we'll start a 2-kilometer hiking route on trails that traverse the Andean rainforest. This hike is of low difficulty and you will be accompanied by an environmental guide who will lead you through the trails.
During the hike, there will be a stop for a typical local lunch consisting of one dish and a drink, before we continue to explore the area.
The Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary aims to protect endangered species. Here, you may observe birds such as the moustached antpitta, multicolored tanager, and torrent duck, along with mammals like monkeys, tapirs, and pacaranas.
Finally, we will return to Pereira and drop you off at your hotel at 2 pm.
