Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary Hike
At 8 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel to make our way to the Otún Quimbaya Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, located southwest of Pereira.
We'll travel 18 kilometers by road to this natural reserve in the Cordillera Central of the Colombian Andes. The sanctuary is characterized by its biodiversity, home to various bird species, insects, small mammals, and plants.
Upon arrival, we'll embark on a 2-kilometer hiking route through Andean rainforest trails. The hike is of low difficulty and is guided by an environmental expert, who will help us discover this protected area.
During the hike, we'll stop for a typical local lunch consisting of one dish and a drink before continuing our exploration.
The sanctuary is dedicated to the protection of endangered species. We may encounter birds like the moustached antpitta, multicolored tanager, and torrent duck, along with mammals such as monkeys, tapirs, and pacaranas.
Finally, we will return to Pereira and drop you off at your hotel at 2 pm.
