Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary Hike

At 8 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel to head to the Otún Quimbaya Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, located southwest of Pereira. We will travel 18 kilometers by road to reach this natural reserve in the Cordillera Central of the Colombian Andes, known for its great biodiversity, including numerous bird species, insects, small mammals, and plants.

Upon arrival, we will embark on a 2-kilometer hiking route through the Andean rainforest. The hike is categorized as low difficulty and will be guided by an environmental expert who will lead us through the trails to discover this protected area.

During the journey, we will pause for a typical local lunch consisting of one dish and a drink before continuing to explore the area.

The Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary focuses on protection of endangered species. We may observe birds such as the moustached antpitta, multicolored tanager, and torrent duck, alongside mammals like monkeys, tapirs, and the large rodent pacarana.

We will return to Pereira and drop you off at your hotel by 2 pm.
