Wat Bang Phra is a Buddhist religious community, around 50 kilometers west of Bangkok. The sanctuary is known for its everyday tattoos, or Sak Yant, given by the nearby priests. This convention of inking goes back several years. The Gao Yord Yant or 9 Spires Yant is a holy tattoo, accepted to ensure and carry good karma to the conveyor. This has comparative importance to another Sak Yant structure, the Hah Taew Yant. The Gao Yord Yant is typically inked on the scruff of the neck. The 9 Spires Yant is a geometric structure and speaks to the 9 Sacred Peaks of Mount Meru. It contains 9 representative pictures of Buddha, exhibiting how significant the number 9 is in Buddhism.
This experience is quite unique in Thailand, as the monks only bestow these sacred tattoos and blessings on a limited number of people each day. Your guide will take you through the process at Wat Kru and explain the history of tattoos at Wat Bang Phra. Please note that you may or may not witness a tattoo demonstration, as some clients may request a private session. If you wish to get a tattoo, please inform us of your chosen design in advance. Tattoo fees are not included in the tour price.
