You enter a completely different world. Each meeting is personal, with only your own family/party and the local family. After meeting the local family and your first drink you will start helping the family with preparing the meal. Just watching, making notes and taking pictures is also possible. Just enjoy!
All local families speak at least some basic English, having the possibility to chat and learn about daily life in this specific country. Talk with the host family about anything you would like to know, including sharing some things about yourself and your home country. Most local families find it very interesting to hear about other cultures!

Important information - Thailand Mourning Period
As you may already be aware, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, passed away on 24 October 2025. This is a heavy loss for Thailand, and the Royal Thai Government has announced official mourning practices and suggested mourning attire guideline during the mourning period which lasts for 90 days (until 24th January 2026.
Although this is not enforced for foreign visitors, this attire is highly recommended as part of the respect for the local customs and traditions. Details are: During the mourning period, foreign visitors are encouraged to wear black or subdued colors (dark grey, navy blue, brown and white) and avoid bright, flashy, or festive colors such as red, yellow, pink, or neon tones. Modest and respectful clothing should be worn when visiting temples, royal sites or government buildings. Visitors are also encouraged to wear a black ribbon, which can be easily found when in Thailand, as a respectful gesture during this special period.
